#WeAreEssential: Tell Congress to Include the Disability Community in COVID-19 Relief Bills

People with disabilities and those who support them are being left behind! Congress has passed several bills to respond to the coronavirus pandemic – but must pass a bill that addresses the specific and critical needs of people with disabilities, including:

  • Funding for a Medicaid grant program to support access to home and community-based services that lessen the risk of people with disabilities being put into institutions and to support the workforce.
  • Paid leave for all caregivers
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) for direct support professionals.

Direct Support Professionals Are Essential Workers!

Every day all across the country, DSPs support people with disabilities to live independently. Meanwhile, Congress has been slow to provide these essential workers with the equipment they need to keep themselves and people with disabilities safe. Congress must act now! #WeAreEssential #WeActWednesday
